Company History
Tronia Systems is a privately owned technology development company headquartered in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada. We have been developing technology solutions for the Agribusiness and Fuel Cardlock industries since 1986.
Originally developed for a single Ag-retail business in Alberta in the mid 1980’s, the Fertilizer Dealer Management System (FDMS) was in use by about 12 fertilizer dealers by 1992., That year, Tronia Systems incorporated and we began actively marketing and selling the solution to the Agribusiness industry. We focused our marketing efforts to the members of the Western Canadian Fertilizer & Chemical Dealers Association (WFCDA), the premier association for Agribusiness at that time. We began adding staff and built many long term relationships with our customers that continue today.
Over the years our customer base has increased, we have added more staff, and our technology solutions continue to evolve and expand. We are a proud supporter of the Canadian Association of Agri-Retailers (CAAR) and its predecessor (WFCDA) and have attended their annual convention every year since the early 1990’s.
In the mid 1990’s we changed the name of the software from the FDMS system to the Edge and we continued to add customers and expand our business.
In 2001, we began offering the Edge solution as a hosted service, sometimes called software as a service (SaaS) to provide a better option for our customers to focus on their business instead of their technology. Our Hosted services have been very successful and have grown significantly since we introduced them. We also became a Microsoft certified Partner specializing in Hosted solutions.
In 2003 we started the biggest project ever undertaken by Tronia Systems, the agrē project. We decided to redevelop our financial management solution from scratch, taking advantage of the latest technologies from Microsoft.
In 2007 we released the next generation of our business management software, the agrē solution.
